This year, twelve recipients of the MTN Ghana Foundation Scholarships have earned their degrees from UCC.

The Bright Scholarship and the Emotive Scholarship were the two categories into which the scholarship was separated.

The Bright Scholarship recipients received funding for their tuition, housing costs, and stipends, while the Emotive Scholarship recipients received funding for their fees and stipends each semester.

George Frimpong, an educational portfolio advisor at the MTN Ghana Foundation who attended the graduation ceremony with some of the students, stated that the foundation would keep encouraging those who are vulnerable to pursue higher education.

He emphasized that over the years, the foundation has made large investments in students and educational infrastructure to improve learning in Ghana.

Mr. Frimpong emphasized that the scholarship was all-inclusive, encompassing a wide range of academic subjects, and he noted that many recipients had graduated and found work in a variety of industries as a result of the scholarship program.

The MTN Foundation serves as the corporate social responsibility (CSR) management framework for the 22 activities of the MTN Group.

Since its founding in 2007, it has served as the focal point for all of MTN’s national CSR initiatives.

The foundation’s main goals are to support national and international development priorities and have a wide community impact. At the moment, its three main focus areas are health, education, and economic empowerment.

Recipients:
Ebenezer Bambel, a recipient of the Bright Scholarship Foundation, thanked MTN for the support after earning a first-class Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting.

He said that he could not have finished his education without the Bright Scholarship.

Mr. Bambel stated that the scholarship relieved him of the anxiety regarding his living expenses and educational costs.

He also noted that MTN gave him the chance to serve his country with them, where he was picking up invaluable expertise.

Dr. Belinda Obour Mensah, another recipient of the Emotive Scholarship from the School of Medical Science, stated that the scholarship came at a crucial moment in her life when she was in danger of losing her guardian, who had been providing for her.

She claimed that her goal of becoming a doctor would have been dashed in the absence of the scholarship.

While recalling her early struggles, Dr. Mensah expressed relief that the scholarship had lessened the financial weight that was a major obstacle for her.

Dr. Mensah reminisced about her early struggles but expressed joy that the scholarship had lifted a significant financial weight off her mind.

She claimed that the scholarship acted as a driving force, pushing her to work more in her coursework out of a desire to repay MTN’s investment in her education.

MTN proved to be a lifeline for Dr. Mensah, allowing her to stay focused on her academic goals. She thanked the company for the assistance.
