IMANI Vice President Kofi Bentil has disclosed that in addition to facing criticism for supporting the Vice President, he has also been the target of numerous threats.

He claimed that since he endorsed Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the vice president and 2024 NPP flagbearer, threats against his life and enterprises have been made.

Even while he acknowledged that the development is regrettable, he expressed his unease about the circumstances and his determination to continue supporting Dr. Bawumia.

On Saturday, February 10, he revealed the information on the Joy News channel.

“I have had a very interesting week, and I was forced to put it on my Facebook page.

“People were meeting to attack me, and there were efforts afoot. You hear a lot of these things, and I am not saying this is NDC, but there are all kinds of surrogates and people who feel upset about it.

“I don’t have a problem with debate and discourse no matter how vigorous. I block a lot of people on Facebook, but I do that only when you insult me. But if you want to debate me, fine…people are planning to attack me, with people saying when NDC comes into office, they will collapse my business.”

Speaking publicly, the attorney for private clients acknowledged that endorsing the vice president has a significant cost.

All men are entitled to an impartial trial.

Facebook posts by Mr. Bentil urged Ghanaians to give Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia a fair and impartial hearing.

Not having served as president before, Mr. Bentil feels that Dr. Bawumia ought to have the chance to demonstrate his ability.

Bentil highlighted the significance of impartiality in assessing both candidates, drawing a comparison with the late President John Mahama.

Numerous people, particularly those in the NDC camp, who called the policy analyst out for being conflicted, hauled him down to the gutters.

Many people threw the policy analyst in the gutter, particularly those in the NDC camp who called him out for being a conflicted individual.

People such as Sammy Gyamfi, the National Communication Officer of the NDC, stated:

“For your information, Ghanaians gave Bawumia ample hearing in 2016 when he held countless lectures and fora to propound lofty but deceptive economic rhetoric.”

“Need I remind you, that at a time when Bawumia as chairman of the Economic Management Team, has supervised the total destruction of the economy, what is required of him, is ACTION and not lectures? This is trite and you of all people should know that.”

However, Mr. Bentil claimed he is unfazed.

Before addressing Ghanaians, he made it clear that he was simply providing what he thought to be accurate information regarding Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

According to him, the information he revealed about Dr. Bawumia is verifiable.

Mr. Bentil emphasized the value of disseminating information and said that persuading people is a different story.

His remarks are in response to a statement he made about Dr. Bawumia before his speech to the country on Wednesday, February 7, in which he praised the man as the greatest vice president in history, underlining both his integrity and his ability to bring about significant changes.

Mr. Bentil elaborated, saying, “I just hoped to put out what I believed are facts” regarding the Vice President, in spite of some people’s opinions.

He went on to say that he is supporting the NPP flagbearer because, as a former president and NDC flagbearer, he is a superior choice.
