Hair stylist Lydia Wiafe has bemoaned being traumatized after pictures of herself went popular on social media and she was allegedly enlisted in the Ghanaian military despite being too old.
The Ashanti Region resident of Ejisu Apromase claims that since her photos became popular online, she has been unable to work and now lives in constant fear for her life. She protests that she was never drafted into the military and laments that her friends and relatives are constantly phoning to check on her and bringing up the lie that someone else has been spreading about her.
“I live in constant worry that the military may pursue me. “This is an obvious instance of deception against my person,” she declared in an interview with CitiNews, urging the Ghanaian Armed Forces to launch an inquiry to find the person responsible for leaking her images for nefarious purposes.
It is an issue of integrity, thus she is depending on the Ghana Armed Forces to look into it even if she hasn’t filed a formal report with the police.
In an interview with CitiNews, a few Ejisu Apromase locals confirmed Lydia’s denial of the recruiting allegation, saying that she has been working hard as a hair stylist to support her dependents and herself. They made it clear that she lacked the funds to enlist in the Ghanaian military.
A couple of days ago, images of the now-anxious woman wearing military outfits made the rounds on social media. She was reportedly a 62-year-old New Patriotic Party (NPP) member who had been enlisted in the military for an unexplained reason.
