Former President John Agyekum Kufuor proudly introduced the emblem for the JA Kufuor Cup during a brief event on February 13, 2024.
Scheduled for Sunday, February 18, 2024, the highly anticipated JA Kufuor Cup match will feature a showdown between powerhouse teams Asante Kotoko and Nsoatreman at the Baba Yara Stadium.
The John A. Kufuor (JAK) Foundation has orchestrated this match to pay homage to the remarkable legacy of the former President, marking the pinnacle of his 85th birthday celebration.
Present at the unveiling ceremony were former Black Stars captain Stephen Appiah and coach Kwesi Appiah.
During the launch, Eric Alagidede, General Manager of Nsoatreman, boldly declared his club’s determination to secure victory over Kotoko for the coveted trophy. In response, Coach Kwesi Appiah, representing Kotoko, affirmed that the Porcupine Warriors would fiercely contend to honor the ex-president, a former board chair.
As the ambassador of the JA Kufuor Cup, Stephen Appiah pledged to purchase 1000 tickets for the match.
Kurt Okraku, President of the GFA, encouraged Ghanaians to turn out in large numbers to witness the match and urged both teams to give their all.
Former President JA Kufuor, in officially launching the tournament, extended his well wishes to the two clubs, assuring them of his support on Sunday, February 18, 2024.
