The Ghanaian U-20 women’s national team is embarking on an exciting journey to Clairefontaine, courtesy of a collaborative effort between the French Football Federation (FFF) and the Ghana Football Association (GFA).

Scheduled to depart on Saturday, February 10, the Black Princesses will delve into the rich history of the French national team during their one-week tour.

Dubbed “Olympic-Ghana Go!”, this initiative, spearheaded by the French Embassy, seeks to elevate the standards of women’s football by providing invaluable professional development opportunities for more than 20 Ghanaian players, coaches, and referees.

Yusif Basigi’s team anticipates gaining valuable exposure to state-of-the-art facilities during their visit to France’s National Football Center, empowering them for future competitions.

Addressing attendees at a reception on Friday, February 9, where the collaboration was unveiled, the Vice President of the Ghana Football Association, Mark Addo, said: “This initiative aligns seamlessly with the GFA’s Women’s football strategy that aims at elevating women’s football in Ghana.

“It is a strategic move not just about participation but promoting excellence at the global stage and also extending the cultural and economic relationship that Ghana and France have enjoyed over the years.

“The qualification of the Black Princesses to the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Colombia is a testament to how women’s football has developed in Ghana.

“The benefit of this program extends beyond football but about building bridges between cultures and fostering mutual understanding and showcasing football as a unifier.

“We are grateful to the French embassy in Ghana and the French Football Federation and all those who have worked tirelessly to make this project a reality.”
