Ayishatu Aminu, a resident of Safe-Child Advocacy in Kumasi, showcased her golfing prowess by clinching the top spot at the third Captain One Golf Society Kids’ Tournament held at the Royal Golf Club in Kumasi.

The 18-year-old received accolades in the form of a trophy, a medal, and a complete golf club set with a trolley, generously donated by Gals in Golf, a women’s golf group based in the USA.

Competing over four challenging holes, Ayishatu Aminu demonstrated her leadership among the juniors, securing victory with an impressive 29 points. Juliana Nassah followed closely with 32 points, while Adam Fadila claimed third place with 35 points.

Jennifer Satura, Paula Kokame, and Gifty Baba claimed the fourth, fifth, and sixth positions respectively, each showcasing remarkable skill. Zakia Hudu and Modesta Satura secured the seventh and eighth spots with their commendable scores, and Esther Atta rounded off the top nine with 41 points.

In the longest drive category, Hawah Adam emerged victorious, displaying exceptional power and precision, followed by Asana Adam, Francisca Opoku, Paula Kokame, and Princess Alhassan.

Pauline Kokame showcased her finesse in chipping, securing the top position, followed by Asana Adam, Princess Alhassan, Francisca Opoku, and Hawah Adam. Meanwhile, Paula Kokame’s proficiency in putting earned her the first position, trailed by Princess Alhassan, Asana Adam, Francisca Opoku, and Hawah Adam.

Following her victory, Ayishatu expressed her delight during an interview with the media, emphasizing her gratitude towards her coaches for their invaluable guidance on her journey to becoming a skilled golfer.

“My coach psyched me to win this year so that was my idea coming into this competition and that helped me. I took my lessons seriously and I was relaxed and that did the magic for me,” she said.

Aminu, filled with joy, extended her gratitude to Captain One Golf for providing her with the platform to nurture her innate talent in golf. She emphasized the pivotal role the organization played in her journey, stating, “If it weren’t for Captain One Golf, I wouldn’t be here today, and my abilities as Ayisha wouldn’t have been recognized. Captain One Golf Society has truly made a significant impact on me and my peers.”

“Anytime and I sit and reflect on how far we have come through Captain One Golf Society; we always count ourselves lucky to get this opportunity and we will use it well because golf can take us far.”

To keep them engaged on the course, a monthly medal was organized for the young golfers at the Royal Golf Club in Kumasi. At the end of the year, Jennifer Satura topped the leaderboard with an impressive 84 points, followed by Mary Torheptey with 77 points and Ayisha Aminu with 63 points.

Modesta Satura secured the fourth position with 48 points, while Juliana Nassah and Paula Kokame claimed the fifth and sixth spots with 47 and 37 points respectively. Cecilia Jijira took seventh place with 35 points, followed closely by Zakia Hudu and Fadila Adam who both finished with 28 points, securing the eighth position.

Esther Attah secured the tenth spot with 27 points, while Gifty Baba and Pauline Kokame claimed the eleventh and twelfth positions with 24 and 1 point respectively.

The competition received support from various sponsors including Servaco PPS, KinkubiSolutions, RK Cliste, Industrial Procurement Services, Flo Polo Designs, Run On Time Engineering, PEEW-Williams Services, Smart Procurement and Logistics, SK Logistics and Constructions, Royal Golf Club Kumasi, and MosakPhotograph.
