The eagerly awaited presentation by Isaac Adongo, Member of Parliament for Bolgatanga Central, intended to address Vice President and NPP Flagbearer Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s 70-point vision, has unfortunately been canceled.
This cancellation was due to the Ghana Institute of Bankers withdrawing their permission to host the lecture organized by the Coalition For Restoration (CFR). Adongo, recognized as the ranking member of the finance committee by CFR, aimed to use this platform to address what the coalition perceives as factual inaccuracies in the Vice President’s presentation.
CFR announced the cancellation, explaining that while the venue had initially been secured for the event, the facility managers later withdrew their permission, citing political implications as the reason for their decision.
In their statement, CFR stated, “Regrettably, due to circumstances beyond our control, the scheduled lecture cannot be delivered as advertised on the specified date. This cancellation stems from the decision of the venue managers to retract their permission for us to utilize their premises.”
To clarify the situation, the managers of the Chartered Institute of Bankers contacted CFR to inform them of the cancellation of their venue booking. They cited their policy against hosting politically inclined events, viewing the planned public lecture by CFR as such.
Consequently, they expressed their refusal to allow CFR to proceed with their event at their venue. Moreover, CFR had earlier informed the Institute’s managers that the Bolgatanga Central MP would be the special guest, to which they had no objections.
Therefore, CFR was surprised by this sudden change of stance. They apologized for any disappointment caused by this development, as they understood many were eagerly anticipating the lecture.
Additionally, CFR noted in their statement that payment for the venue had already been completed, and receipts confirming the transaction had been issued.
They stated, “At the time of booking for the venue, we made it clear that it was going to be an economic lecture where at least one of the speakers is a politician belonging to the NDC. We further assured them that we were not going to wear party shirts for attendance. We subsequently made full payment for the venue and got a receipt for it. But, things probably changed after our flyers/posters went viral advertising Hon. Isaac Adongo as the main speaker. We were called on the phone this morning to tell us that our booking has been canceled.”
