Olubodun Sanni, a 21-year-old final-year student at Adekunle Ajasin University in Akungba Akoko, Ondo State, has been arrested for the murder of Ifeoluwa Adekunle, a 20-year-old 300 Level female student at the same institution.
When he paraded the suspect, Commissioner of the Ondo State Police Command, Abayomi Oladipo, disclosed this.
Details about the death of Adekunle from the Department of Economics by Sanni, a final-year Geology student at the university, and his motivation were revealed at the procession on Tuesday.
“One of the few accomplishments we want to showcase is the arrest of a murder suspect involved in the killing of an AAUA student,” Oladipo said to newsmen.
Adekunle Adebisi Ifeoluwa, 20, a 300-level student at the university, was discovered in a blood pool at her off-campus hostel on February 2, 2024. She was taken to the university health center and subsequently referred to a Specialist Hospital in Ikare Akoko, where she was subsequently confirmed dead. This was the basis for a suspected murder case that was reported to the police.
“The police found that the deceased’s phone was missing during their inquiry.
Using contemporary technology, the police were able to identify the phone’s owner as 21-year-old Olubodun Sanni,’m,’ a final-year student at the same institution and the deceased’s hostel neighbor.
“Further interrogation of the suspect following the recovery of the phone revealed specifics of his confessional statement, including how he broke into the deceased’s room, stabbed her in the chest with a knife, and took her iPhone XR.”
